It has become increasingly clear to me that every believer needs to be established in sound biblical doctrine. No one can claim to understand God’s Word or the truth about who God is perfectly. However, all of us can have a strong foundation for understanding who God is. From that foundation, the Holy Spirit begins to teach us more. Our knowledge of who God is continues to grow as we walk daily with Him and remain close to our heavenly Father.
Just as when building a house, it is essential to have a strong and solid foundation. A good foundation gives you stability when you face life’s challenges. You remain standing because your faith in God has been built on a firm foundation. Your understanding of who God is and what He is able to do becomes your anchor during difficult times. As we continue to walk with Him in the light of His Word, He is able to shape us so that our thoughts about Him become aligned with the truth.
This week, Pastor Pertti Mäkelä has been laying precisely this kind of foundation. Through the theme Knowing God, he has also highlighted various misconceptions that believers have about God’s character. Because of these misunderstandings, many Christians blame God for things He has not done. This teaching has opened my eyes to see His goodness, His love, His faithfulness, and above all, that He is the Almighty God who is able to turn every evil thing I may have experienced into victory in the name of Jesus.
Pastor Pertti explained God’s nature to us. In summary, God is one, yet three Persons. They exist in perfect unity, and through them we have received love, hope, and faith. Watch this video clip and discover what awaits you at Hope for the Nations Bible School.
